Jerry and Sue May of Denham Springs, La., announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Mona Suzanne May, to John William Spencer Wright of Baton Rouge, La. He is the son of David and Jennelou Wright of Chatsworth, Ga.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Douglas A. and Lena Fontenot Simpson of Baker, La., and the late Louise D. May of Baton Rouge. She is the sister of Adam and Jodi May of Denham Springs.

Miss May graduated from Live Oak High School in Watson, La., and Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La., where she received a bachelor of arts degree in education. She is currently attending Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge where she is in the graduate program in the College of Education. Miss May is employed at Holy Family School as a middle school science teacher.

The future groom is the grandson of the late William Crawford Earnhardt Jr. and Mrs. Frances Baughn Earnhardt, the late Julius Spencer Wright and Mrs. Nellie Mae Barnes Wright. He is the brother of David E. Wright Jr. of San Jose, Calif.

Mr. Wright is a graduate of Dalton High School and Berry College in Rome where he earned a bachelors of arts degree. He received a masters of fine arts degree in theater from the University of Georgia in Athens and is currently attending Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. in theater. Mr. Wright is employed at Louisiana State University as an instructor.

The wedding is scheduled for Feb. 14 at 7 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Greenwell Springs, La.
